Release of the Atelier Marie + Elie's English patch on PS2!

Hello everyone.

Finally, we're pleased to announce that Atelier Marie + Elie is released in English today

This is a compilation of the original games "Atelier Marie" and "Atelier Elie". These are the first "Atelier" games from Gust, originally released in 1997 and 1998 on PSX. The PS2 compilation has improved graphics and a much better user interface than the PSX versions.

We translated everything. All the texts and images have been translated and we subtitled the only voiced video on the fly. Moreover, ALL the official bugs are fixed and the Extra menus which hadn't been implemented in that compilation as well as the PSX Openings have been added by ourselves from scratch with the data from the original games. So, that translated compilation shouldn't have drawbacks anymore compared to the PSX versions.

We tested 100% of the compilation on HDLoader, Open PS2 Loader and the emulator PCSX2, and it works without any problem.
However, make sure to carefully read the readme and tutorial in the patch's archive before you play the compilation if you want the games to work properly.

The project finished, we have another Gust translation in English in progress: Ciel nosurge Offline for the PS Vita.

The hacking is already almost finished, but the translation part will be really long. We will give more details on future news.

Nous sommes heureux d'annoncer que la version traduite en anglais du japonais d'Atelier Marie + Elie sort aujourd'hui même

Il s'agit d'une compilation PS2 comportant deux jeux sortis à la base sur PSX : Atelier Marie et Atelier Elie. Ces deux jeux sont les tous premiers "Atelier" développés par Gust respectivement en 1997 et 1998 sur PSX. La compilation PS2 comporte des textures et une interface améliorées (c'est peu dire) par rapport aux versions PSX.

Avant d'aller plus loin, sachez qu'aucune traduction française du jeu n'est en cours par notre équipe, vous devez donc avoir des notions d'anglais pour y jouer convenablement.

Nous avons traduit la totalité de la compilation. Les textes et les images ont été traduits à 100% en anglais pendant que la seule vidéo du jeu comportant des voix a été sous-titrée à la volée. De plus, TOUS les bugs provenant de la version officielle ont été corrigés et les menus "Extra" qui n'ont jamais été implémentés dans cette compilation ainsi que les Openings des versions PSX ont été ajoutés par nos soins. Cette compilation ne devrait donc plus présenter d'inconvénient par rapport aux versions PSX.

La compilation a été testée et fonctionne à merveille sur la console originale avec le HDLoader, Open PS2 Loader, mais aussi sur l'émulateur PCSX2. Assurez-vous cependant de bien lire le readme et le tutoriel fournis avec le patch pour faire fonctionner le jeu correctement.

Maintenant que ce projet est terminé, sachez que nous n'avons pas de traduction française en cours. Notre prochain projet sera une autre traduction de jeu Gust du japonais vers l'anglais : Ciel nosurge Offline sur PS Vita.
Le hacking est d'ores et déjà pratiquement terminé mais la phase de traduction sera très longue. Plus de détails seront donnés dans une prochaine news.

First of all - Thank You very much!

I was cheking your site at least 2 times per day since I have discovered that you helped with Ar Tonelico 2 relocalization project and saw that you are working on Atelier Marie + Elie. The first games from Atelier franchise I was going to play eventually in japanese. I'm huge fan since first one that saw western release - Atelier Iris Eternal Mana.
So I was looking out for any news about how is your project coming along, especially after the news when you wrote that patch is complete and now it is in beta tests. Several days ago I saw some new screens from game on your site and thought myself that maybe patch is near release. And now wait time is over!

But that wasn't all... no... You had to. You just had to add more hype. "The project finished, we have another Gust translation in English in progress : Ciel nosurge Offline for the PS Vita." Another one I(heck, I'm not the only one) was missing!
Guess I will be visiting your page for a while and*mumble mumble* hope you guys will do rest of missing Atelier games

The PS2 Gust games are known to have issues on the PS3. If that works on it, please tell us, we didn't test it ^^

This is possible we will translate the other PS2 "Atelier" games in the future, but that won't be in the near future, though

I just tested it on ps3 and whatever it seems to me is okay! But I'm going to play it harder to be honest!

Finished Marie (wow, that was short compared to newer ones :p) all endings of course . Now starting Elie, but there is problem with sound while playing on PS2(slim, modded), actually there is no sound on 2nd openings(the spoken ones). I just downloaded PCSX2 to check if maybe there is problem with my copy but it works normally. While I could just play on PC with emulator, I prefer playing games on their dedicated hardware. It's not game crashing bug, so I will keep playing on PS2.

Do you play it with a burned disc or Open PS2 Loader? With OPL, did you enable the 480p display mode? The videos don't work properly if you use another display mode than the 480i one.

I just tested with a burned disc on a modded PS2 and indeed, the sound track is not running during the PS1 Openings. I think I know why, but the way I made things, that will be a big issue to fix without tremendously increasing the patch's size. I will investigate that. Most people that play PS2 games nowadays they do it either on emulators or Open PS2 Loader, so it's not that big deal. It's just that I'm old fashioned

I can't play the game in my ps2, I'm using fmcb 1.8 multi install and opl 0.9 stable with the game on an SD with an adaptor, is there a way to play it like that or should I look for other way?

Did you read the instructions with the patch?

Yes i used a clean very of the Japanese iso i activated mode 1 I even checked that the md5 was the right one before the patch

Did you install the game via Winhiip, by chance?

For some reason, the game doesn't work if you install it this way. You have to use HDL Dump instead. You get a black screen or it is freezed on a certain colored screen with OPL?

Else, try to enable the MDMA0 mode.

It is a black screen honestly I have just transferred it to that memory so I'll try with HDL dump thanks
